wooden boats in saltwater
Freshwater doesn’t pose many problems to boats, but saltwater can corrode metal up to 10 times faster. not only that, boating on the ocean can be rough on your hull, especially if it is designed for inshore boating. 9 most common problems with boats in saltwater the main way to keep your boat happy in saltwater is to be vigilant.. Comocean has been in salt water since new. i pretty much do all the things matt mentioned. fresh water closed cooling is mandatory for a year round salt water boat., but i also have a rinse process plumbed in for the manifold risers and exhaust.. marine power 5.7 twins are all antifreeze internally otherwise.. Rerun – the saltwater cleaning ritual, it’s worth every second minute, hour. . out for her 2 month cleaning. this story was published in august 2017 – we decided it was worth a rerun, we live in an area that is brackish water, which is a light salt fresh water blend..
wooden boats in saltwater Help !? the wooden enterprise i'm trying to work on on seems to be put together with brass screws. as such, should i be able to put it in salt water ? i have heard conflicting opinions re brass/ bronze debate. i don't want to destroy the boat by corroding all its screws, would that happen for sure in salt water ? i'm confused because its seems strange that the boat would have been built. Re: does saltwater preserve wood? for those thinknig about these ideas in the context of pleasure boats, there is also the factor of the hull being submerged all the time rather than exposed to air. also i'm under the impression that those boats leaked some. so if the bilge water was seawater, you get the reduced threat of rot from the inside..
