plywood transom on boat
In this video i laminate two pieces of plywood together to make the transom for my boat. if you are enjoying this channel, please consider making a donation. The boat is 14' x 5'6" with a 20" transom. max. 40 hp. boat built out of plywood 3/8" bottom 1/4" top sides. i have been through boat strength and did not see it there. please help. bruce it ain't fishing if you ain't using a lure. wbc, feb 18, 2009 #1.. An aluminum jon boat with a wood transom that needs replacement means possibilities, such as making the transom taller to accommodate a long-shaft outboard. whatever your choices, the end result needs to fit well, be properly finished and securely attached to the aluminum hull. whether the wood transom on your. 
plywood transom on boat This is overkill though. a transom made with 2x plywood layers laminated with epoxy, tabbed with 3 layers of biax tape and covered with 2-3 layers of biax cloth is far stronger than any factory made boat transom and will last longer than you own the boat assuming it stays dry. the rest of the hull will fail structurally before it does too..
